At Mr. Yu Master Acupuncture & Healthcare, we use a comprehensive Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) approach to help alleviate sciatica pain. Sciatica, often caused by nerve compression in the lower back or lumbar spine, can result in sharp pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness along the leg.

From a TCM perspective, sciatica is commonly associated with Qi and blood stagnationcold-damp accumulation, or blockage in the meridians that pass through the lower back, hips, and legs. By improving circulation and unblocking the meridians, TCM helps support natural pain relief and restore mobility.

Our TCM Approach for Sciatica Relief

1. Acupuncture

We select specific acupuncture points along the Bladder, Gallbladder, and Governing Vessel meridians to:

  • Reduce nerve irritation and inflammation
  • Improve circulation in the lower back and legs
  • Relax tight muscles and fascia
  • Support natural recovery and restore comfortable movement

2. Electro-Acupuncture

For more persistent or severe sciatica, electro-acupuncture:

  • Enhances the effects of acupuncture
  • Stimulates deep tissue and nerve pathways
  • Provides longer-lasting pain relief

3. Cupping Therapy

Targeted cupping along the lower back and gluteal region helps:

  • Release muscle tension
  • Promote blood flow and reduce stiffness
  • Ease pressure on the sciatic nerve

4. Mr. Yu Special Massage

Our signature massage therapy focuses on the lower back, hips, and legs to:

  • Loosen tight muscles and fascia
  • Improve joint flexibility and posture
  • Reduce nerve compression
  • Enhance overall comfort and mobility

Expected Benefits

With regular TCM sessions at Mr. Yu Master Acupuncture & Healthcare, patients often experience:

  • Relief from lower back and leg pain
  • Reduced numbness and tingling
  • Improved mobility and posture
  • Less muscle tension and stiffness
  • Enhanced overall wellbeing
